Manager (Captain)

Responsibilities
Invest in the growth and development of those around you through mentorship, hands-on coaching, and a genuine commitment to building a strong, knowledgeable team. You will anticipate guest needs and deliver personalized, high-touch fine dining experiences, execute tableside preparations with precision and showmanship, and uphold fine dining standards including coursed service, etiquette, and seamless team coordination. You will stay composed under pressure and guide team performance in real time.
Qualifications
Previous fine dining experience is required, along with wine and spirits certification or equivalent hands-on experience. We are looking for someone with a strong leadership presence and a natural ability to mentor, develop, and inspire a team, a genuine guest-first mentality, and clear, confident communication skills. A commitment to upholding El Gaucho Portland's standards and vision is essential.
Compensation and Benefits
$75,000 to $80,000 annually (DOE) plus growth potential. A background check will be conducted prior to extending an offer.

El Gaucho Portland hosts are the first and last impression of the restaurant, and we take that role to heart. We are looking for warm, energetic professionals who lead with genuine hospitality and take real pride in making every guest feel welcome, seen, and cared for.
Hospitality is the heart of everything we do. From the moment a guest walks through the door to the moment they leave, you set the tone for their entire evening. You will graciously greet guests, assist with coats, escort parties to their table, provide menus, and ensure that every special request is communicated with care. You will also warmly answer incoming calls, input reservations, and support the Front Desk Lead with accurate table checks throughout service.
We are looking for someone with hosting experience who is ready to grow. For the right candidate, there is a clear path toward a Lead Host role.

El Gaucho Boise is seeking dedicated Prep Cooks to support our kitchen operations. You'll be responsible for preparing ingredients and components that are essential to our menu, working efficiently to ensure the kitchen is ready for service.
You'll prepare vegetables, proteins, stocks, and sauces according to El Gaucho's recipes and standards. Your attention to detail, knife skills, and ability to follow instructions are essential to supporting our culinary team.

We are actively recruiting experienced Fine Dining Servers who bring deep hospitality knowledge, polished service skills, and a genuine passion for making every guest experience memorable.
Your Role
As a Server at El Gaucho Boise, you will manage a section of 3 to 4 tables and serve as the lead coordinator between front and back of house throughout service. You will bring comprehensive knowledge of food, wine, and beverage to every table, guide guests through a fine-dining experience with precision and warmth, and apply strong salesmanship rooted in genuine hospitality. This is a role for a seasoned professional who is as comfortable with tableside preparation as they are with building lasting guest relationships.
Areas of Responsibility
- Deliver polished fine-dining service across a section of 3 to 4 tables with precision and genuine warmth
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of food, beverage, and wine to guide and elevate every guest's experience
- Execute proper fine-dining coursing and steps of service with appropriate timing throughout each meal
- Drive sales through skillful, hospitality-rooted recommendations that enhance the guest experience
- Accurately receive and enter food and beverage orders through the POS system
- Coordinate seamlessly with front-of-house and back-of-house teams throughout service
- Handle cash and process payments with accuracy and efficiency
- Deliver exceptional service that builds guest loyalty and encourages return visits
- Execute tableside service with confidence where applicable
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 4 years of serving experience in a fine-dining or upscale dining environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of food, wine, and beverage with the ability to speak confidently about the menu
- Demonstrated understanding of fine-dining steps of service and proper coursing
- Strong salesmanship skills grounded in authentic hospitality
- Proficiency with POS systems for order entry and payment processing
- Accurate and efficient cash handling skills
- Valid alcohol server certification
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays per the posted schedule
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Exceptional communication and coordination skills
- Tableside service experience is a strong plus
Compensation
During the 2-week training period you will receive $12.00 per hour. After training, pay is $3.35 per hour plus tips. Our servers typically earn $40.00 to $60.00 per hour including tips, though actual earnings vary based on individual sales and guest gratuities and are not guaranteed.
