We are searching for a Maintenance Worker to join our team at Inverary Manor in Inverness, Nova Scotia.

About the Job:
-
Perform a wide range of preventative and day-to-day maintenance tasks across the facility, both indoors and outdoors
-
Conduct general maintenance, repair, and upkeep including basic electrical work, plumbing, drywall, painting, and carpentry
-
Maintain ventilation, humidification, and other building systems
-
Complete seasonal outdoor tasks such as lawn care, snow shoveling, and salting (e.g. 16 fire doors)
-
Operate shop tools, power equipment, and farm/lawn care machinery
-
Respond to emergency repair calls as needed and conduct regular safety checks
-
Maintain accurate records using computer maintenance systems (an asset)
-
Place and receive maintenance-related orders
-
Work independently or as part of a team to meet operational goals
-
Adhere to OH&S and fire safety regulations (fire alarm and sprinkler basics, lockout/tagout protocols, confined space and fall protection considered assets)
-
Ensure a clean and safe environment around vulnerable residents
-
Promptly report safety hazards or near-miss incidents to the supervisor
About You:
-
Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in healthcare or residential settings
-
Valid driver’s license with clean record
-
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required upon hire

Demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance including:
-
Electrical and plumbing systems
-
HVAC
-
Drywall, carpentry, and painting
-

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, walking long distances, and working in various weather conditions
-
Strong time management, multitasking skills, and safety-first mindset
-
Certification in confined space or fall protection (or willingness to obtain)
Assets:
-
Lockout/Tagout training
-
Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (e.g. CMMS)
-
Experience operating farm tractors and lawncare equipment
