Acting Neighbourhood Director – Dietary (6-Month Contract)

Term: Temporary – Up to 6 Months
Overview
We are seeking an internal candidate to step into an Acting Neighbourhood Director – Dietary role on a temporary basis. This opportunity is designed to support leadership development, strengthen operations, and provide additional oversight within the dietary and neighbourhood model.
This is a developmental leadership role intended for internal staff who are interested in expanding their scope into operations, team leadership, and resident-centered service delivery.
Role Summary
The Acting Neighbourhood Director – Dietary will support the coordination of dietary services within the facility and day-to-day management of assigned neighbourhood, while working collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff.
Key Responsibilities
Resident & Family Experience
- Act as a point of contact within the neighbourhood for residents and families
- Support a positive dining experience that aligns with resident-centered care
- Collaborate with clinical teams to support resident needs and preferences
Dietary Coordination
- Liaise with the Dietician and ICMH supervisor/staff regarding nutritional plans, changes, and concerns
- Support implementation of dietary recommendations (textures, preferences, service flow)
- Communicate updates to dietary and care teams as required
- Monitor consistency and quality of meal services
Team Leadership & Operations
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to neighbourhood staff
- Promote teamwork across CCA, housekeeping, and dietary teams
- Support onboarding and orientation of new staff within the neighbourhood
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, and resident satisfaction
- Participate in audits, feedback collection, and follow-up actions
- Support implementation of organizational initiatives and changes
Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Work closely with Neighbourhood Directors, Director, Clinical Care and other leadership roles
- Participate in meetings as required to support operations and communication
- Take on additional tasks or projects as assigned by leadership
Qualifications & Considerations
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to work collaboratively
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Preference will be given to applicants with education or experience in nutrition, food services, or a related field
- Experience in long-term care, dietary, or care environment considered an asset
- Management experience an asset
