Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide quality delivery of assigned courses within the Child and Youth Care Worker Program and will show a strong commitment to utilization of a variety of instruction strategies, techniques and delivery methods to meet the learning styles of the students. Successful candidates will teach assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, grade tests, assignments and exams, as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds. 

The successful candidate will support the vision, mission, and values of Eastern College while contributing to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.  

What you bring to the position:

  • University degree with major course work in psychology, social work, or child studies OR a Child and Youth Care Worker diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience working with youth in a community, educational, or residential facility.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Management and Suicide Intervention is an asset.
  • Adult education and teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with online communication tools such as MS Teams or Zoom is considered an asset.

What you’ll be doing:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide quality delivery of the Medical Administrative Specialist program curriculum. You will utilize a variety of instruction strategies, techniques, and delivery methods to meet the individual learning styles of the students, in a safe and civil learning environment. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, taking daily attendance, and as required, grading class tests, assignments, and exams. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends to enhance the learning experience.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Medical Office Administration/Procedures
  • 2 - 5 years experience (2 years with relevant diploma, 5 without) working as a Medical Office Assistant / Medical Secretary in the Canadian healthcare environment.
  • Experience with medical transcription, terminology and medical software is required.
  • Training or teaching experience an asset

  • Superior communication and organizational skills will be essential to success in this role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications and use of the internet.
