Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide quality delivery of assigned courses within the Child and Youth Care Worker Program and will show a strong commitment to utilization of a variety of instruction strategies, techniques and delivery methods to meet the learning styles of the students. Successful candidates will teach assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, grade tests, assignments and exams, as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds.
The successful candidate will support the vision, mission, and values of Eastern College while contributing to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.
What you bring to the position:
- University degree with major course work in psychology, social work, or child studies OR a Child and Youth Care Worker diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience working with youth in a community, educational, or residential facility.
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Management and Suicide Intervention is an asset.
- Adult education and teaching experience preferred.
- Experience working with online communication tools such as MS Teams or Zoom is considered an asset.

Primary Responsibilities:
The main purpose of the Employment Specialist is to successfully place Eastern students into internships in the industry related to their training through business development activities; and to provide students with the knowledge and support to successfully complete their internships. The Employment Specialist must also successfully place Eastern graduates into job in the industry related to their training through business development activities; and to provide students with the knowledge and skills to conduct an independent job search to secure employment.

What you’ll be doing:
- Actively contact corporate employers to source out leads for job opportunities and possible on-campus visits to speak to students.
- Contact businesses to promote Eastern graduates, events and understanding market trends.
- Conduct corporate presentations to organizations on Eastern College and Eastern College graduates.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with recruiting firms to place graduates.
- Attend networking events, association meetings, trade shows, and career fairs.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships through frequent follow-up contact to source leads of internships.
- Develop relationships with employers to review and support programs for approval submission to the Ministry of Training College and Universities.
- Deliver new student orientations as per schedule.
- Meet job placement and internship targets as defined by Management.
- Other assigned duties.
What you bring to the position:
- Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology, Business, or Career Development.
- Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience in recruitment (proven experience with placements), and or business development.
- Demonstrated three (3) years of experience training/teaching adults in career management and employment facilitation and one-to-one counseling.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of employment search techniques, career management competencies, training needs analysis, and one-to-one counselling techniques.
- Labour market trends and information.
- Computer literacy in MS Office, internet and email.
- Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.

Primary purpose:
- Organize and conduct New Student Orientation.
- Meet with all students one month into their program (or earlier if there is an issue). Review with each student how the program is going, is the College meeting their needs, anything further they need or see how something could be improved upon.
- Diffuse upset, angry or hostile students, provide guidance and information, and refer appropriately.
- Identify students at risk or in crisis and proactively connect them with the appropriate resources and supports.
- Follow a prescribed student engagement process with face-to-face meetings, phone calls, surveys and electronic communications to assist students successfully through their program and student experience.
- Manage the student exit survey process, review the results, and make recommendations based on the results to the Campus Director.
- Create Student Success Plans (SSP).
- Work with Instructors to ensure student SSP and accommodations are understood and implemented.
- Provide guidance on personal issues with students and connect them to local counselling resources and/or the student assistance provider (where applicable).
- Act as a back-up Instructor for Student Success Strategies course.
- Manage the Peer Assisted Learning program.
- Assist with the Student Ambassador Program, working with the instructor in charge of this program.
- Communicate concerns about student progress to instructors and administration in conjunction with coaching efforts and strategy.
- Weekly approval of grades in the College Administration System (XCAS).
- Act as Acting Campus Director when the Campus Director is away.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the position:
- Post-secondary education in business or technology.
- 3+ years of management, operational and/or administrative experience is required.
- CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certifications would be an asset.
- Experience working with students who require accommodations.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
- An understanding of the Private Career College Industry is preferred.
- This position will require the successful candidate to have their own transportation and a valid driver’s license.
