About the Job

  • Assists residents with personal care and activities of daily living, such as: bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment;
  • Collaborates with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plan;
  • Plans and/or assists in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities on a daily basis;
  • Performs cleaning duties after mealtimes and assists with light housekeeping duties in resident rooms;
  • Performs delegated tasks as determined by scope of employment;
  • Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident status and safety to RN/LPN Supervisor.

 

About You

  • You have a valid Continuing Care Certification (CCA) or equivalent and are registered with the Health Association of Nova Scotia CCA Registry;

About the Job

  • Thoroughly clean common areas including lobbies, hallways, and stairwells; sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Thoroughly clean vacant rooms to prepare for incoming residents.
  • Collect refuse from residents' rooms and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.
  • Clean and restock housekeeping cart; notify Supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Promote safety culture by continuously working safely including but not limited to identifying and reporting hazards, following safe work practices and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, supporting others to work safely, and completing safety education.
  • Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on the type of laundry (linens, mops, personal clothing)
  • Operates washing machine using proper washing formulas.
  • Operates dryer and extractor; loads clean, wet laundry into the machine, sets dials so the laundry is dried or damp-dried appropriately and unloads the machine.
  • Sorts clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; counts linen needed for each area as per linen quota and puts on cart; notes name tags on resident clothing and puts on correct rack.
  • Picks up soiled laundry and delivers clean laundry to resident areas within the facility using laundry carts.
  • Checks laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc.

 

About You

  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry preferred.
  • Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment.
  • A high level of initiative for and commitment to completing assignments efficiently and in a warm, friendly, and customer-service-oriented manner.
  • You can work independently with minimal supervision and can safely use chemical cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Previous housekeeping experience is an asset.
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.

À propos du poste :

  • Nettoyer en profondeur les espaces communs, y compris les halls d’entrée, les couloirs et les cages d’escalier : balayer, laver, épousseter, passer l’aspirateur, nettoyer et désinfecter les cuisines et les salles de bain.
  • Nettoyer en profondeur les chambres vacantes afin de les préparer pour les nouveaux résidents.
  • Ramasser les déchets des chambres des résidents et les éliminer conformément aux procédures établies.
  • Nettoyer et réapprovisionner le chariot d’entretien ménager; informer le superviseur lorsque les fournitures sont faibles.
  • Promouvoir une culture de sécurité en travaillant en tout temps de manière sécuritaire, notamment en identifiant et signalant les dangers, en respectant les pratiques et procédures de travail sécuritaires, en portant l’équipement de protection individuelle, en soutenant les autres à travailler en toute sécurité et en complétant la formation en sécurité.
  • Trier le linge en fonction du type (draps, vadrouilles, vêtements personnels).
  • Faire fonctionner la machine à laver en utilisant les formules de lavage appropriées.
  • Faire fonctionner la sécheuse et l’extracteur; charger le linge propre et humide dans la machine, régler les cadrans pour assurer un séchage adéquat, puis décharger la machine.
  • Trier le linge propre dans les paniers ou supports appropriés; compter le linge requis pour chaque secteur selon le quota établi et l’ajouter au chariot; vérifier les étiquettes de vêtements des résidents et les ranger correctement.
  • Ramasser le linge souillé et livrer le linge propre aux secteurs des résidents dans l’établissement à l’aide de chariots à linge.
  • Vérifier le linge pour repérer toute déchirure, trou, bouton manquant, etc.

À propos de vous :

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires (12e année) ou GED.
  • Minimum d’un (1) an d’expérience en entretien ménager commercial et/ou en buanderie (préféré).
  • Capacité à apprendre et à travailler dans un environnement rapide.
  • Un grand sens de l’initiative et un engagement à accomplir les tâches de manière efficace, chaleureuse, amicale et axée sur le service à la clientèle.
  • Capacité à travailler de façon autonome avec un minimum de supervision et à utiliser en toute sécurité des agents de nettoyage chimiques et de l’équipement.
  • Une expérience antérieure en entretien ménager est un atout.
  • Une passion pour le secteur des soins de santé et/ou l’assurance que les aînés ont accès à des hébergements, services et soins de qualité.
  • Capacité à travailler selon un horaire flexible comprenant des quarts de jour, de soir, de fin de semaine et de jours fériés.

About the Job

  • Provides leadership and delegates tasks to OT/PT Staff.
  • Works with Management and OT/PT Staff to promote communication and compliance on company policies and procedures;
  • Administers and interprets standardized and non-standardized tests and evaluations to assess resident with occupational therapy related concerns such as level of independence in activities of daily living, seating and mobility, swallowing and meal texture, pressure reduction and skin integrity, splinting.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical records, observation, and referral; confers with interdisciplinary staff regarding an overall treatment plan for residents.
  • Evaluates the progress of residents in relation to occupational therapy treatment provided through use of tests and observation; confers with nursing staff and physicians regarding effectiveness of treatment.
  • Prepares progress reports, funding requests, and statistical reports relating to occupational therapy treatment program and resident needs and maintains treatment records as required.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team; gives evaluation and progress reports on residents. Designs and produces adaptive equipment, utensils, splints or other orthotic devices as needed for use by residents; instructs resident and staff in the use of the equipment.
  • Coordinates management of facility equipment; contacts suppliers for service and maintenance of wheelchairs, geri chairs and power wheelchairs.
  • Provides staff training on ergonomics, seating assessment, skin integrity, equipment and other related topics as required.
