Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our Halifax-based team. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen understanding of inventory management principles. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient and accurate replenishment across all MBS store locations, while supporting the continuous improvement of purchasing processes and inventory control systems company-wide.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor store inventory and place regular orders to maintain optimal stock levels across all 17 store locations
  • Process and reconcile all inventory adjustments and transactions
  • Allocating stock by store for upcoming and current promotions
  • Manage vendor reimbursements: analysis, review, recording, submission, and tracking
  • Conduct an annual review to identify sales trends and recommend changes to each store’s planogram
  • Conduct monthly reviews with stores to ensure inventory and ordering accuracy and efficiency, supporting stores in achieving their inventory and service goals
  • Manage, monitor, and generate reports as needed, providing actionable solutions to issues that arise
  • Implement price changes for product codes and brands
  • Schedule, review, and post monthly inventory counts
  • Oversee the ordering and receiving of all office supplies
  • Maintain confidentiality of internal and external business data
  • Maintain records and files including but not limited to product SDSs
  • Ensure all Health & Safety protocols are followed
  • Demonstrate our company culture and values
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Supply Chain certification or equivalent considered an asset
  • High School diploma or equivalent certification
  • Hair, Esthetic, or other industry license an asset
  • 1+ year of inventory management and procurement experience
  • Knowledge of supply chain best practices
  • Demonstrated professionalism with excellent interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid work ethic and ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Intermediate proficiency with computer systems (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), Syntax, and Cognos
  • Experience with IMBi (AS/400) considered an asset

Location: 3695 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS B3K 2Y3. Hybrid eligible (remote & onsite shifts). 

Job Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours), Permanent. 

Schedule: Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Team Leader to join our Halifax-based Warehouse team. The ideal candidate has strong organization skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen understanding of warehouse best practices. The Receiving Team Leader will coordinate daily receiving operations, direct team members, and maintain high standards of safety, accuracy, and workflow efficiency. This role supports smooth warehouse operations by ensuring products are received and processed on time to meet team needs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing the Receiving and Credit workforce to manage the work load of the department.
    • Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt
    • Unload packages from incoming trucks
    • Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged
    • Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity)
    • Receive in an accurate and timely manner
    • Organize and maintain stock
    • Prioritize high anticipated shipments
    • Receive credits/transfers/defectives and log into worksheet
    • Process in a timely manner
  • Ensure safe warehouse operations and supply storage, including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring all products are properly tagged and labelled
    • Ensure all products are stored safely and correctly for maximum warehouse space
    • Follow all replenishment best practices
    • Bin maintenance
  • Responsible for inventory integrity including SOC’s/ROC’s and inventory counts.
  • Coach and train Receiving Team
  • Collaborate with other departments as required
  • Actively participate in all department duties and lead by example to encourage, motivate, and lead team to success
  • Ensure all Health & Safety protocols are followed 
  • Demonstrate our company culture and values
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • Supply Chain certification or equivalent considered an asset
  • License in Hair, Esthetics, or another relevant industry is an asset
  • 1+ year of experience in inventory management and/or procurement
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes and best practices
  • Demonstrated professionalism with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Syntax and Cognos preferred 
  • Experience with IMBi (AS/400) considered an asset
