Position Objective

Ensures the efficient operation of the regrading team by leading the shift lines, achieving productivity targets, maintaining product integrity and meeting operational objectives.

What you will do in a typical day:

  • Lead the assigned shift in the regrading of produce to internal and external customer specifications.
  • Support management and supervisors in the allocation of work to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of packaging and regrading during scheduled shifts. 
  • Ensure all tasks and processes are scheduled and completed and on time. 
  • Ensure equipment and labour hours are utilized in accordance with Company policies while maintaining standards for service, quality, accuracy, efficiency, food safety and health and safety. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely organization of workflow for shipping and receiving functions for the Regrade department. 
  • Effective management of inventory levels for product, supplies and labour. 
  • Support the department management team in meeting transfer requirements. 
  • Verify and ensure product quantities align with invoices and transfers. 
  • Ensure completion of product labeling. 
  • Support the allocation and storage of product, factoring temperature, timing, location and specification 
  • Maintain product quality throughout the packaging process and report any concerns to department management. 

What you will need to succeed at Burnac:

  • High school education 
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Procurement Assistant

Position Objective

Provide accurate and timely completion of responsibilities for the Category Management Team in accordance to achieve planned customer product programs and sustain business operations and growth; executes all duties in accordance with the company’s key performance indicators, business objectives, guiding values, policies and procedures.

What you will do in a typical day:

  • Process and create purchase orders, sales orders, and I-trade orders in a timely manner, ensuring attention to detail. Report discrepancies to Category Management team as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports for including but not limited to; pricing, customer instruction, quality, inventory and transfers, vendor information, invoice and cost data
  • Prepare and communicate loading schedules, ensuring to work closely with internal logistics team, ensure loading schedules are aligned with customer delivery schedules
  • Provide support in the promotion and creation of programs for customers and assist in the communication of those programs to the sales teams
  • Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, research, and resolve discrepancies in partnership with operating partners and Category Managers
  • Prepare, update, and manage category portion of support for Sales Team and communicate updates to category management team as required for, floor plans, transfers, inventory, etc.
  • Prepare and keep records of the vendor payment process; compile payment package, track the information, ensure accuracy, maintain files and spreadsheets, communicate payment details to vendors, analyze the data and troubleshoot issues.
  • Track, update and modify product data flow and payments to ensure no discrepancies in items or pricing and address changes in demand with the Category Management Team.
  • Prepare research and ad hoc project work as required.
  • Follow-up on outstanding items and issues and support buyers with correcting and tracking down discrepancies.
  • Assists Co-worker with overflow work as necessary.
  • Process and update Category Management team annual budget and forecasting tools
  • Execute all duties in accordance with the company’s key performance indicators, business objectives, guiding values, policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience or military experience

Shipper/Receiver

Position Objective

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the warehouse, through the efficient inbound and outbound movement of product.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Knowledge

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing and organization of workflow for shipping and receiving functions
  • Efficient loading and unloading of products on trucks into racking system in a safe and timely manner, while ensuring product integrity
  • Ensure proper product handling to maintain product integrity and safety
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all orders
  • Ensure quality of product throughout the process of loading, unloading, storage and picking.
  • Ensure full compliance with all operating and safety standards, policies and procedures
  • Counting to ensure accurate quantities of product aligned with invoices
  • Execute proper product labeling, allocation and storage of product in its appropriate cooler temperatures

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing and organization of workflow for shipping and receiving functions
  • Maintain minimized product shrink as a result of damage and/or loss of product

Position Objective

Reporting to the QC Manager, the QC Specialist will accurately complete physical product inspections to ensure that quality standards and business operating standards are met and aligned with legislation, Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and customer specifications.

What you will do in a typical day:

  • Ensure strong attention to detail while completing inspections. Missed details or gaps in following process could result in shrink and company losses.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge on customer specifications and quality standards for assigned customer inspection reports.
  • Strong knowledge of produce including organic fruits and vegetables.
  • Sample fruits and vegetables to check temperature and pressure of product.
  • Take pictures of product and packaging labels to upload to the software to build reports.
  • Request CFIA inspection and collect the samples as needed and send out result to Category Manager.
  • Ensure all product handling follows all quality control parameters, regulatory, HACCP and BRC food safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Monitor quality of product in storage on a daily basis.
  • Identify quality or temperature problems in shipments.
  • Provide timely and clear communication on all inspections
  • Advise buyers of deteriorating quality in storage in a timely fashion
  • Maintain constant communication and working relations hips with warehouse employees

What you will need to succeed at Burnac:
At minimum, you will need:

  • Knowledge of BRC requirements, HACCP, GMP and Food Safety Regulations
  • 1 to 3 years minimum experience in the fresh produce business or food and beverage
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience working within food inspection position, completing physical inspections
  • Strong background in produce
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Lift 22kg floor to waist, waist to shoulder and above shoulder
  • Ability to work in a cold environment
  • Ability to pull, bend, twist and climb each shift
  • Ability to walk and stand each shift

Position Objective

This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the onshore transportation of shipments to Burnac Produce Limited. It involves coordinating and lading the logistics onshore team in all aspects of over-the-road and rail movements of perishable goods by ensuring acceptable transport conditions, lead time and cost. With a focus on continuous improvement initiatives, this position will provide opportunities for development that will positively impact the business.

What you will do in a typical day:

  • Coordinate and manage transportation of perishable goods in a cost-effective manner, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries while staying on a budget.
  • Develop or comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet business needs.
  • Leverage trade lane management to optimize transport contracts and procurement strategies with the carriers in terms of services and rates.
  • Analyze and propose transportation approaches considering intermodal/cross-docking alternatives when available and acceptable
  • Make informed business decisions with vendors and carriers.
  • Oversee the dispatching of trucks.
  • Identify potential transportation problems (bottlenecks) and determine solutions, creating contingency plans to avoid/minimize supply disruptions and/or delays.
  • Track and trace goods in transit, communicating with all parties involved about estimated times of arrivals (ETAs) and unexpected events such as equipment breakdowns and delays.
  • Ensure all documents are in compliance with Customs regulations and government food agencies.
  • Monitor customs releases/clearances of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Train, develop and supervise onshore logistics staff delegating work as required.
  • Monitor department’s performance, carrier’s KPI and prepare reports for senior management.

What you will need to succeed at Burnac:
At minimum, you will need:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in transportation and logistics.  
  • Proven experience in over-the-road transportation management or a similar role in North America.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and forecasting skills.
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility with work hours/day to support the operation is essential.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience working with perishable shipments.
  • Proficient in Spanish.
  • Designations/certifications related to transportation.
