$30–$40 per hour for qualified Foreman candidates, negotiable depending on experience and responsibilities.
$24-$28 per hour for Skilled Labour positions.
$20-$23 for Labour Positions. Other compensation arrangements may be available.

Position Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to a variety of commercial landscape construction and/or maintenance projects, including site preparation, grading, planting, sod installation, lawn maintenance, hardscape installation, equipment operation, and general site cleanup.
Depending on experience and qualifications, responsibilities may include leading and coordinating multiple crews across different job sites, supervising daily operations, training team members, maintaining equipment, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, sound decision-making, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Qualified candidates may also participate in winter snow removal operations.
Key Responsibilities
Landscape Construction & Crew Leadership
- Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor crews of varying sizes, with Foreman responsibilities potentially involving 3–15 crew members across a minimum of three job sites.
- Assign and delegate tasks, monitor productivity, and maintain high standards for workmanship, safety, and team conduct.
- Participate in hands-on construction activities, including site grading, soil preparation, sod installation, planting trees and shrubs, mulch installation, and hardscape construction.
- Interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, and project specifications, translating them into clear instructions for crews.
- Train employees in proper work methods, equipment operation, and landscaping best practices.
- Coordinate subcontractors and ensure their work meets project requirements and quality standards.
- Communicate professionally with clients, addressing questions, confirming expectations, and documenting changes or special agreements.
- Assist with estimating materials, labour, and equipment requirements for project changes and new opportunities.
Landscape Maintenance & General Labour
- Perform lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, and site cleanup.
- Operate commercial landscaping equipment, including Toro 5910 and John Deere 1600 mowers, line trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping tools.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, materials, and equipment as required.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
- Identify and report equipment issues, site hazards, and maintenance requirements.
- Support construction and maintenance crews with additional duties as needed.
Equipment Operation, Maintenance & Safety
- Safely operate landscaping machinery and equipment, including skid steers, mini-excavators, loaders, commercial mowers, and other equipment appropriate to your experience and training.
- Complete daily equipment and vehicle inspections and perform routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records, including crew hours, daily work plans, equipment inspections, and occupational health and safety documentation, as required.
- Follow company policies, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements, equipment operating procedures, and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) practices.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, vehicles, and active construction sites.
Seasonal Snow Removal
- Assist with winter snow removal operations at commercial properties and other assigned locations.
- Operate snow removal equipment, including loaders, skid steers, and Kubota enclosed pathway sweepers, where qualified.
- Participate in hand crew operations, snow clearing, and site cleanup.
- Support winter scheduling and operational requirements, including on-call work when required.
- Qualified employees may have opportunities to transition between summer landscaping and winter snow removal duties.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, landscape construction, landscape maintenance, or equipment operation is an asset. Foreman candidates should have at least five years of commercial landscape construction experience and three years in a crew leadership or supervisory role.
- Education: Horticulture diploma or equivalent industry experience preferred for construction leadership positions.
- Equipment Skills: Experience operating landscaping tools, commercial mowers, small engines, skid steers, mini-excavators, or loaders is an asset. Training may be provided for selected equipment.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of OH&S practices, equipment inspections, and safe work procedures.
- Leadership: Ability to supervise, motivate, train, and coordinate team members, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Organization: Effective time management, task prioritization, and the ability to work toward deadlines.
- Customer Service: Professional communication and a courteous, respectful approach when interacting with clients and coworkers.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Driver’s Licence: Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a safe driving record.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to and from our Balzac location is essential, as public transit is not available in the area.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, dust, and cold.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and remain alert around moving machinery and vehicles.
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak summer periods and participate in seasonal overtime as required.
- Availability for winter snow removal work, including overnight, early morning, or on-call shifts where applicable.
- Commitment to wearing appropriate PPE and following all workplace safety procedures.
