Machinist

We are seeking a Machinist to join our team.  This is a morning shift schedule.

JOB DESCRIPTION – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As defined below but not necessarily limited to:

1.     Produce replacement and new parts in making repairs of mechanical equipment.

2.     Fabricate parts for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment working from drawings and/or written instructions.

3.     Compute dimensions, tolerances, measure & lay out work pieces.

4.     Perform tasks of substantial machining variety and/or complexity requiring in-depth knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and shop equipment.

5.     Fit & assemble machine parts & subassemblies using hand & power tools.

6.     Verify dimensions of products for accuracy & conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

7.     Complete job orders with all pertinent repair information and store parts depletion data.

8.     Maintain stores organization and identify parts shortages to Maintenance Manager.

9.     Able to supply Purchasing with the accurate information for part orders.

10.  Project work as assigned.

11.  Perform shop housekeeping duties in order to maintain a safe working environment therein. Cleaning of specific job work area after job completion.

12.  All work is to be completed by competent tradesmen in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario and the Regulations for Industrial Establishments.

Requirements

• Certified Machinist or approved alternative Indentured Apprenticeship with demonstrated machine shop expertise.
• Superior machine shop expertise, in particular with lathe and milling machines.
• Capable of reproducing replacement parts from existing parts and/or drawings/blueprints.
• Ability to read & produce (when required) mechanical drawings for components/parts; planning for best sequence of operations.
• Knowledgeable of welding practices.
• Must be prepared to work shifts and varying amounts of overtime.
• Applicants must have very good attendance and safety record.
• Applicants must possess good leadership qualities and take initiative in their work.

Shift: 7:00am to 3:00pm
